7 lbs Gone in 5 Days!


I decided that I would clean up my diet last weekend. I had been so busy at work, that I was calling out for Chinese food daily, then going out for cocktails in the evening. I was feeling bad, not sleeping well, and generally, just needed to rein it in a bit. So, Sunday, I went grocery shopping, bought lots of fruits and veggies, and looked up some Paleo recipes (see I Refuse To Burnout).

All this week, I have been planning and preparing my meals, which really has not been as difficult as I imagined. Day one, I made spaghetti squash and meat sauce, which actually covered dinner and 2 additional lunches for me this week. I also made the yummy shrimp fried rice that substituted cauliflower for rice. I even whipped together a chicken wrap that uses lettuce instead of tortillas. Last night, I threw some frozen shrimp and frozen broccoli into some sauteed garlic, and I had a meal in minutes.
I really don't want to go on and on about my meal plans (Paleo Grubs is a great source!). I wanted to talk more about the fact that it is a bit difficult to make the initial transition. Monday at work, I was actually detoxing (I forgot about that when I thought Sunday was a good day to begin). I felt a bit light-headed and nauseated - and no, my smart-ass Ladies Wine Club, I had not had a drink since Friday! It did pass that day, and I have felt better ever since. I have been laying low this week, in part because I don't want to be tempted to cheat with cocktails or carbs. You can imagine my delight this morning when I realized I had already dropped 7lbs! I even noticed this afternoon that I am not so puffy looking.

I am now looking toward the weekend, and wondering if I can hold on through the temptation of girls night on the town. I'm gonna try, though! Wish me luck!
