Don't Cut the Cheese!

Since I was a little girl, I have loved cheese. There was not a dish I could come up with that could not be made better by adding cheese. Cheese has been a staple in my diet my entire life. You can imagine my growing horror, then, when I realized that my body is beginning to tolerate it less.

Aquaponics - Good idea for Tiny House Living?

Hi everyone! Today, I stumbled upon an article online for aquaponics. I am a huge advocate for healthy living and eating, and I thought the idea of aquaponics was incredible!

Weight Loss and Body Image

I woke this morning thinking about how swollen I feel. It has been particularly hot and humid here in Southwest Florida for the past month. I spend all of my time in air conditioning and drinking copious amounts of fluids just stay hydrated. I have also been quite busy at my office, so I have been running around the corner to the local Chinese restaurant for lunch. In and of itself, that would not be a problem, except that I am a creature of habit and not as adventuresome in my diet as I am in life. So, the result is that I have been eating shrimp fried rice and crab rangoon for about a week and a half now. I know better. I know my body appreciates a low carb diet. I know I should plan. I did it anyway.
With some trepidation, I stepped on the scale this morning, and confirmed my concern. I have gained about 5lbs. So, I know that it is time to start paying attention to my diet again. Not only have I gained weight, but I just feel bloated.
What is so funny about dieting, is that we al…

Peeping Tom During a Massage Appt Yesterday

As my clients well know, my office is on the 3rd floor, so it would be quite difficult to "peep" on a session. This little guy, though, loves to visit me frequently. Often, when my client is dozing on the table, I will find myself lost in my own head, and my eyes will travel to the window. Yesterday, this little guy decided to dance for us. Enjoy!

Cord - Cutter

I did it. I finally held firm through the phone calls with DIRECTV, and I canceled my service. Never before, had they been so nice and helpful. The funny thing is, I wasn't leaving them due to service issues. No, that particular issue rests solely with Comcast, but that is the next challenge.

Downsizing in Preparation for the Future

I have been giving a lot of thought to just what I would be purging as I endeavor to have a more mobile and streamlined lifestyle.

Perhaps in a moment of prescience a few years ago, I began selling, donating, and tossing furniture and clothing that had followed me for years.

It is a liberating, terrifying, and exhilarating feeling to hold something in your hands that once meant so much, then discard it. You wonder if you will miss it. You wonder if you may regret it when you find yourself needing something like it. You feel a twinge for the loss, then you just feel...light.

Thoughts On Living

As I walk my dog on this mild Southwest Florida morning, I am pondering my lifestyle. I have this fantasy about chucking all of the trappings of modern life and just checking out. I also know, though, that I enjoy city amenities. I love having access to restaurants, bars, and entertainment. As a child, my family camped and hiked. I was also in JROTC, and have hunted and fished with the men in my life. With that said, as an adult, I have left many of the planning and fixing details to the men in my life.

Weighing Travel Destinations - FL State Parks

Saint James City, FL

I spent last night thinking about possible travel destinations. (see L'Aventure Commence: I currently live and work in SWFL, so I am thinking that my first excursions will be over long weekends. This seems like a good way to get used to RV travel and living. I'd really like to visit St Augustine, which is around a 6 hour drive from me, from what I have been told. I have done the Disney thing, although I could visit Universal Studios and Busch Gardens. Frankly, though, I am considering starting with a list of State Parks around here. I ran across this list, and I am evaluating these:

My name is Kandace. I am in my early 40s, mother of two, and a business owner. For some time now, I have been itching for something new. It has manifested as a yearning, an itch, a restlessness that is momentarily quelled by alternate states of overwork and overplay. My youngest is beginning her senior year of high school in a couple of weeks, and have glimpsed the vague, shimmering hazy and barely formed hint of what my life will become soon.
